Alabama?

Alabama was an unexpected side-trip during my 2.5-week trip to the USA. While driving from Birmingham to Atlanta, I realized that the highest point in Alabama was within sight of the interstate.

It only took about 45 minutes to make the side trip off of Interstate 20 and into the State Park for a rushed visit.

The Civilian Conservation Corps Building (Bunker Tower, Constructed 1933-37), undergoing renovations on the Summit, so I couldn't get too close a look at the summit building.

Two workmen were knocking ice and snow off of the radio antenna, and a guy with a hard hat ran out of a work trailer to warn me and another man that ice might fall on us. As we moved our cars, ice and snow chunks started to rain down on the parking area.
